The Prince Who Chose What Was Right

Among the hundred brothers known as the Kauravas, there was one prince named Yuyutsu. He was the son of King Dhritarashtra, just like the others, but he was a little bit different. While his brothers were often loud and liked to start fights, Yuyutsu was quiet and spent a lot of time thinking about what was fair. He grew up in the palace of Hastinapur, watching his brothers make choices that he knew deep down were not kind or honest.

Yuyutsu's Difficult Choice

When a giant war was about to begin between the Kauravas and their cousins, the Pandavas, everyone had to pick a side. Yuyutsu’s own brothers and his father were on one side, but he knew they were not doing the right thing. Just before the battle started, the oldest Pandava brother, Yudhisthira, stood in the middle of the field and asked, 'Is there anyone who wants to fight for the truth?' Yuyutsu took a deep breath. He knew that if he stepped forward, his brothers would be very angry with him, but he also knew he couldn't fight for something he didn't believe in.

The Brave Step Forward

In front of thousands of soldiers, Yuyutsu bravely walked away from his own brothers and joined the Pandavas. He was the only one of Dhritarashtra's sons to do this! He chose to follow his heart instead of just doing what his family told him to do. Because he was so honest and brave, he survived the great war. After the fighting was over, he was given a very important job: he became a wise leader who helped take care of the kingdom and guide the next young king, proving that doing what is right is the most important thing of all.
