Listen to the Story
This is the story of Gandhari, a princess who was forced to marry a blind prince but still set a great example of sacrifice

The Princess of Gandhara
Princess Gandhari was a very kind woman from the kingdom of Gandhara. She was famous for her patience and for being a great devotee of Lord Shiva. When it was time for her to marry, the powerful 'Grandfather' of the royal family, Bheeshma, came to her father’s palace. Bheeshma wanted her to marry the prince of Hastinapur, Dhritarashtra. However, there was a catch: the prince was blind. Because Bheeshma was so powerful and represented such a strong kingdom, Gandhari’s family felt they couldn't say no, even though they were worried about her future.

Gandhari's Brave Choice and Her Brother's Anger
When Gandhari’s brother, Shakuni, found out about the marriage, he was very angry! He loved his sister dearly and felt that Bheeshma had pressured their family into a match that wasn't fair to her. He thought his sister deserved a king who could see her beauty and protect her. But Gandhari was very brave. To show her husband that he would never be alone in his darkness, she took a silk cloth and tied it over her eyes forever. She chose to share his challenge so they could walk through life together as equals.

The Queen of Inner Strength
Even though Shakuni stayed angry at Bheeshma for the rest of his life, Gandhari became one of the most respected queens in history. By giving up her sight, she developed a different kind of power—a strength of the mind and heart. She became the mother of a hundred sons, known as the Kauravas. Even though she couldn't see the world with her eyes, she was a wise leader who always tried to guide her children toward doing the right thing, proving that love and loyalty are stronger than any pressure.
