Baby Hanuman's Hunger

When Hanuman was just a baby monkey, he had amazing powers. One morning, he woke up very hungry. His tummy was growling loudly!
Baby Hanuman looked up at the sky and saw a bright, round object. "That looks like a juicy fruit!" he thought. It was the sun, but little Hanuman didn't know that.

The Big Jump

"I'm going to eat that big red fruit!" said baby Hanuman. He took a deep breath and made a giant leap into the sky. Up, up, up he flew, higher than birds, higher than clouds!
The gods were surprised to see a baby monkey flying through the sky. Even Indra, the king of gods, was amazed at Hanuman's power.

The Fall and Blessing

As Hanuman got closer to the sun, Indra became worried. To protect the sun, Indra struck Hanuman with his thunderbolt. Poor baby Hanuman fell back to Earth and was hurt. His jaw became swollen and wounded.
The gods felt sorry when they saw the brave little monkey unconscious. Vayu, Hanuman's father and the god of wind, became angry. He stopped the wind from blowing anywhere on Earth.
Without wind, everyone began to suffer. The gods came together and decided to make things right. They blessed baby Hanuman with many special gifts:

The power to change his size
The strength of a thousand elephants
The ability to fly as fast as the wind
Protection from fire and weapons
A long life

When Hanuman received these blessings, his jaw healed, and he became even more powerful than before.
