The Miraculous Birth of Krishna - Part 2
Listen to the Story
Can looks be deceptive? That's exactly what happened when a demoness disguised herself to poison Krishna

Goddess Warns Kansa
Vasudeva reached his friend Nand's house in Gokul. He handed over Krishna to Nand and returned to the prison with Nand's baby girl. The guards woke up and heard her crying. They told King Kansa. Kansa rushed to the cell and grabbed the baby from Devaki. "Will a girl kill me?" he laughed. "Leave her. She's just a girl," pleaded Devaki. Kansa ignored her and tried to kill the baby girl. But she slipped from his hands and rose into the air! She transformed into a Goddess.
"Foolish Kansa!" she said. "Your enemy is already born and safe elsewhere. Your end is coming soon!" Then she vanished. Kansa was filled with fear and anger. His plan had failed!

Putana's Visit
Kansa called for a demoness named Putana. He asked her to find and kill all the newborn babies in Gokul that were born last night. Using magic, she changed her shape to look like a beautiful woman. In Gokul, she found baby Krishna. Pretending to be kind, she asked his mother to feed him. But her milk was poisoned!

Krishna's Power
When baby Krishna began to drink, he started sucking out Putana's life force! She couldn't pull away. Suddenly, she changed back into her demon form and fell down dead. The villagers were amazed that a tiny baby had defeated such a powerful demon.
