The twin Arjuna trees standing tall in Vrindavan
The Origin of the Twin Trees
Long before Krishna's birth, there lived two celestial beings named Nalkuvera and Manigriva, sons of Kubera, the treasurer of the gods. Blessed with divine beauty, wealth, and privilege, they grew increasingly proud and indulgent. One day, while intoxicated and accompanied by beautiful celestial maidens, they were bathing naked in a sacred river when the great sage Narada happened to pass by.
Seeing the revered sage, the celestial maidens quickly covered themselves out of respect. However, Nalkuvera and Manigriva, blinded by their arrogance and intoxication, remained unclothed and showed no reverence to the sage. Narada, seeing an opportunity to teach them humility and devotion, pronounced a curse that would transform their lives.
